Our Pigment Perfecting Serum Is Now Even Cleaner

One of our brand values is being accountable to science. One of the implications of this core brand value is that we continually learn from new studies, and continue to make formulation improvements.

Most recently, our Pigment Perfecting Serum has undergone a formulation update to make it cleaner than ever, while still delivering the powerful results you rely on. While we did not change any of the actives that make this product so effective in fighting age spots and evening out the complexion, we changed some of the emulsifying ingredients.

What Are Emulsifying Ingredients, and Why Are They Important?
Emulsifying ingredients play a crucial role in skin care formulations. They help blend oil and water-based components into a smooth, uniform texture. Without emulsifiers, products could separate, making them both harder to apply and less effective.

Emulsifiers also affect the product’s texture, absorption, and overall feel on the skin. Choosing the right emulsifiers ensures that this serum not only works effectively but also enhances your skin care experience.

What Changed?
To align with our commitment to clean beauty, we’ve replaced three emulsifying ingredients with cleaner alternatives:

We removed:

Polyacrylamide
C13-14 Isoparaffin
Laureth-7

And replaced these with the following, cleaner alternatives:

Sodium Acrylate / Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer
C15-19 Alkane
Polyglyceryl-6 Laurate
Polyglycerin-6

These changes result in a slightly more viscous, less transparent texture. However, rest assured that it’s still very much a serum and retains the silky application you know and love.

What’s Stayed the Same: The Results You Love
While we’ve upgraded the emulsifiers, the key active ingredients that make our Pigment Perfecting Serum so effective remain the same:

Alpha-Arbutin: Targets uneven pigmentation and brown spots.
Vitamin C Derivative: Brightens and defends against free radical damage.
Hop and Citrus Extracts: Help break up skin discoloration.
European Blueberry and Green Tea: Provide antioxidant protection.
Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E: Deeply hydrate and plumps the skin.

Suitable for all skin types and tones (and safe for nursing and pregnant women), the updated formula retains the same efficacy with the added confidence of being even cleaner.
